Lee’s Big bird was so impressive right from the beginning. Coming in around 4 inches across, and a perfect fluffy, soft, bright yellow ball. First, the petal count is unreal. The form, a close second. As soon as I saw the bud starting to open, I could hardly wait to see how all of those petals were going to fit on one bloom. Tall plant coming in around 5’. The strongest stems and bloom connection. Perfect angled bloom. No need to disbud, all the stems on this beauty are long and sturdy. I just love Big Bird in bright bouquets. Hybridized by Lee Hemmings Carlton of Goldenrod Gardens and released in 2024.
B-Grade Dahlia Tuber: B-grade tubers are healthy, viable tubers that will grow and bloom true to variety. They may have multiple cosmetic imperfections, thin necks, runts, or have lost a little too much moisture. These tubers are fully plantable and will thrive for you, but did not meet our top-select standards for full price. B-grade tubers are normally tubers we would keep to plant ourselves, but we have extra and are selling at a significant discount. We will never send out a tuber that isn’t viable. There are no guarantees with B-grade tubers. Only purchase if you are comfortable with these conditions.
Honoring the Hybridizer: 10% of each sale of this variety is returned to Lee in appreciation and support of her breeding and hybridizing work. Information on Lee's seedlings can be found here.
