I can’t say enough good things about Primrose Darling. I am normally not a huge fan of the yellow dahlias, but this season really changed my mind with Lee’s Buttercake, Lakeview Blush and Primrose Darling. The lush, perfect foliage is just as impressive as the 3 inch creamy butter blooms that are consistent, all season long. Shorter plant, sitting around 3’ tall, but that doesn’t impact the stem length at all. No need for disbudding this gal, and the strength of the stems, bloom connection and angle is unmatched. There isn’t one thing negative I can say about Primrose Darling. Whenever I picked a bouquet for myself it was all Primrose Darling. The vase life on her exceeds 10 days for me. I’ll be growing many more of her next season. Works perfectly as a garden variety as well as a cut flower. 11/10 for Primrose Darling. Hybridized by Lee Hemings Carlton of Goldenrod Gardens and released in 2023.
B-Grade Dahlia Tuber: B-grade tubers are healthy, viable tubers that will grow and bloom true to variety. They may have multiple cosmetic imperfections, thin necks, runts, or have lost a little too much moisture. These tubers are fully plantable and will thrive for you, but did not meet our top-select standards for full price. B-grade tubers are normally tubers we would keep to plant ourselves, but we have extra and are selling at a significant discount. We will never send out a tuber that isn’t viable. There are no guarantees with B-grade tubers. Only purchase if you are comfortable with these conditions.
Honoring the Hybridizer: 10% of each sale of this variety is returned to Lee in appreciation and support of her breeding and hybridizing work. Information on Lee's seedlings can be found here.
